Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial World Series since the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, the star outfielder smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three triumph in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, the nation," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."

George Springer has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we finished on the wrong side of this game," he added.

Toronto secured the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
