US actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in LA on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a message.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Notable TV Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a party host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several well-known programs, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.

Pat Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
