One 60-day journey through Australia has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but broke off from the party for a rest. The vessel sailed away leaving her and went back later that day after the crew became aware the passenger was missing.

A major search operation located her body the subsequent day.

Authorities are looking into the event, together with law enforcement and the medical examiner.

Head of the voyage organizer said that travelers and staff on the ship were informed that the remainder of the journey had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he mentioned that guests would be given a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to coordinate the travel back of the travelers via chartered flights".

Authorities also published an latest statement, and said they had "issued a directive to the Captain" banning any further travelers from boarding the ship.

She further stated that she hoped the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the operator should have undertaken that might have saved Mum's being".
