The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to coach Liverpool is conceivable.
The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club remains an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative near-decade reign which brought continental glory and ending the club's long wait since 1990, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would embrace the idea that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he told his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach another team within the country. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, that means I might decide down the line, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I can just see what lies ahead.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on what circumstances would need to occur to draw him back to the dugout, he revealed he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to interviews multiple times weekly or constant media duties a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the adjustments which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated a string of losses across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, though he denied the idea it could be a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in during his tenure, along with the consequences at the club. The Portugal international lost his life in a car crash together with his sibling this past summer.
“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the team environment absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough about it. A profound tragedy for all the boys as well. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it to justify results though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Handling this individually is challenging. Impossible.”
