The Red Devils Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has half a year remaining on her deal, is known as a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. She has scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. This signing is viewed as a marquee signing for the Women’s Super League team.
Her exit from Munich was expected after she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the club's supporters after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in late December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading strikers. According to reports, the formalities for the move have now been completed.
Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen the Attack
The experienced striker's arrival should represent a significant boost to United’s attacking options. She has been remarkably reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- For seven consecutive seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She won the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Building Momentum at Carrington
The acquisition of Schüller’s signature comes at a time when United seem to be building momentum.
Their recent performances feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

Regarding the midfielder's new deal, a club official stated: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
The new defender, having joined from a side from the American league, said: “You can sense how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
