Triple MVP Nikola Jokic suffers a 'gut-wrenching' leg setback.
Thrice-crowned National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "devastating" knee injury when the Denver Nuggets fell 147-123 at the Miami Heat.
Jokic was hurt towards the end of the second quarter following an accidental coming together with teammate Jones.
His teammate landed on the footwear of the MVP, who instantly fell to the court grabbing his leg.
The star, who is leading the league this season in rebounds and assists, posted a score of 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to incurring the setback.
He is scheduled for an MRI on the following day to determine the extent of the injury.
"Right away, he realized there was a problem," commented Nuggets head coach David Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Any player that gets hurt, that's difficult, particularly a player as talented as Jokic. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"We'll move on together. Obviously, at this moment, I'm focused about Jokic as a person and the disappointment of facing an event of that nature."
