Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.
He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their honor.
Presidential Invitation
The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president addressed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Community Reaction
Mourners gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to support public safety in the capital.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that teachers hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to help others.”
Service arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Steps and Policy Changes
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the government to halt asylum applications and halt providing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit his relatives.
Impact of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
